Inverse obstacle scattering in the time domain

This work is a study of the extension of an inverse obstacle scattering algorithm for fixed, single-frequency data to multi-frequency time-dependent settings. The inversion algorithm is based on the point source method, which reconstructs scattered fields pointwise with respect to frequency. We use Fourier transforms to obtain the time-dependent scattered fields as superpositions of single-freq...

Numerical Method for Solving Obstacle Scattering Problems by an Algorithm Based on the Modified Rayleigh Conjecture

A numerical algorithm for solving obstacle scattering problems is presented. This algorithm is based on the Modified Rayleigh Conjecture (MRC) method introduced by A. G. Ramm. Its numerical implementation shows that the method is efficient, can handle nonsmooth 3D obstacles and obstacles with complicated shapes. Numerical examples are given.

A FAST GA-BASED METHOD FOR SOLVING TRUSS OPTIMIZATION PROBLEMS

Due to the complex structural issues and increasing number of design variables, a rather fast optimization algorithm to lead to a global swift convergence history without multiple attempts may be of major concern. Genetic Algorithm (GA) includes random numerical technique that is inspired by nature and is used to solve optimization problems. In this study, a novel GA method based on self-a...

The enclosure method for inverse obstacle scattering problems with dynamical data over a finite time interval

A simple method for some class of inverse obstacle scattering problems is introduced. The observation data are given by a wave field measured on a known surface surrounding unknown obstacles over a finite time interval. The wave is generated by an initial data with compact support outside the surface. The method yields the distance from a given point outside the surface to obstacles and thus mo...
